Paul James

I joined Redkite in 2013 as Head of Company and Commercial from Evershed’s Company Commercial Practice Group in Cardiff. My background is advising clients (including John Lewis, Rolls-Royce, Legal & General, Barclays, Sony Ericsson and GlaxoSmithKline) on a wide range of commercial matters such as implementing standard terms, services and marketing agreements and other commercial contracts, intellectual property and IT matters.

I have also acquired depth of knowledge in shared services models and public procurement through working with public sector clients such as Carmarthenshire County Council, Welsh Government, the Forestry Commission and the Highways Agency. For instance, I acted as lead advisor to the DVLA on their £300million card consumables procurement. I have also given strategic advice and drafting support to local authorities, housing associations and further education bodies.

At Redkite I am bringing all this expertise to bear for clients in West Wales (including SMEs), as well as assisting clients with buying and selling their business and other general corporate support. I enjoy working with my clients to understand what it is they want and helping them to achieve it. I am very much a “can do” kind of lawyer.

I believe in helping clients and as such have spoken at many national training events and tailored client training. I can provide sessions on: competitive dialogue, framework agreements and shared services as well as delivering tailored commercial contracts training sessions to private sector in-house legal teams or commercial managers.

Born and raised in Pembrokeshire, my wife and I decided to move home to be closer to friends and family. I currently live in Cwmfelin Boeth which is a hamlet just outside of Whitland. When I am not working I enjoy rugby as well as exploring the Pembrokeshire countryside and all it has to offer!
