Gemma Scourfield

I am an Associate Solicitor working in the Family Department. I advise clients on divorce and in particular, the financial consequences following the breakdown of a relationship. I am alive to the sensitive issues which arise following a separation and offer my professional and confidential advice.

I trained with the firm and qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and have dedicated my career to family law advising on a range of issues that may impact on families; from pre marital agreements to divorce and separation for both married and unmarried couples. I also represent clients in children law proceedings acting for both parents and grandparents. Many of my clients have also required my assistance protecting themselves from domestic abuse. This can be a stressful and emotional time for many of my clients and I am on hand to offer practical advice to reach a swift and amicable outcome to their problem. I am a strong negotiator and an experienced court advocate.

I was promoted to the position of an Associate with the Firm in April 2014 as recognition of my experience and specialism in family law.

Many of my clients live and work locally and are professional or skilled workers with valuable pensions and property portfolios. I also manage many of my client’s cases who are based outside of the local area and abroad. I work with accountants and financial advisors to ensure my clients get the best possible service.

I adopt a sensitive, common sense and commercial approach with clients to achieve the best possible outcome for them.

I live locally with my husband, daughter and pet Labrador. Outside of work I enjoy keeping fit.

Throughout every stage of proceedings I never felt pressurised to make hasty decisions - very professional.
