I joined Redkite in November 2020 as a Solicitor based in the Cardiff office specialising in Employment Law.
I moved to Cardiff from Hertfordshire in 2010 to study English Literature. After three years of solid reading, I obtained my undergraduate degree and then converted to law. I completed the Graduate Diploma in Law in 2015 (commendation) and then the Legal Practice Course in 2016 (distinction).
After completing my training contract with a commercial law firm in Cardiff, I qualified into the employment law team in 2019. Since qualification, I have worked with businesses and organisations on a wide range of issues including defending employment tribunal claims, TUPE, redundancies, contracts of employment, consultancy agreements, casual worker agreements, settlement agreements, policies and procedures, supporting them through difficult procedures such as grievances, disciplinary, and capability procedures. Working with a wide variety of corporate/commercial clients across South Wales and beyond is both rewarding, because you see an organisation grow and flourish through its employees, and interesting since no query or legal case is the same.
I also advise and assist employees with grievances, disciplinary, or capability procedures, and settlement agreements from their employers. I have supported employees to bring employment tribunal claims against employers, in particular those who have been subjected to disability discrimination. This work is interesting due to its diverse nature, but I also find it rewarding to help individuals navigate their way through the relevant (often complex) legal processes.
In my free time, I love hiking in Wales with my family and running with a good podcast to listen to. In the past I have run the Cardiff Half Marathon and raised money for Cardiff University’s mental health and neuroscience research fund. I also enjoy reading a good book, going out with friends sharing a bottle of wine, dance (with a background in ballet, tap and jazz modern), and watching rugby – for my honeymoon I went to Japan to see England v Argentina.
A friendly and efficient service from your employment law specialist Laura Masterton. Despite the short deadlines over the Christmas period her response was excellent. Thanks
What our clients say
I was very pleased with the courtesy of the ladies who attended to my requests and particularly so at the time when I had my accident – they were extremely helpful.
Paul James' support has been invaluable in effectively progressing key contractual requirements. His knowledge and expertise in contract and procurement matters is exceptional. Would not hesitate to engage Paul's services again in future should the requirement and opportunity arise.” (dated March 2017).
The reason I used Redkite is that most solicitors don’t have the area of expertise that I required.
Redkite have provided assistance through several particularly difficult issues. Their advice has been professional, thorough and specifically tailoured to the needs of our business. The staff are approachable, knowledgeable and realistic in the advice they provide.
Redkite were recommended to me and I would do the same, fantastic service.
I have to say that everyone I have come into contact with from the receptionists to the solicitors have always been excellent. The advice I have been given formally and informally has always been clear and concise which is always a weight off your mind when you are dealing with the affairs of your loved ones.
