Alice Powell

I joined Redkite Solicitors in 2018, whilst I was studying the LPC LLM on a part-time basis at the University of Law, Bristol.

After completing my post-graduate course, I commenced a two-year training contract where I was predominantly based in Red Kite’s Wills & Probate department. After I qualified as a solicitor in July 2021, I transferred to our Contentious Probate team to specialise in Will, Trust and Estate disputes.

I understand that it is extremely difficult to lose someone close to you, and even more difficult when a family dispute arises following that loss. I have been told that I’m a great listener and that I’m very approachable. I always try to explain to my clients the court process in straightforward terms, so that they understand exactly how their case is progressing, each step of the way.

I have experience in bringing and defending claims brought under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. In February 2023, I acted for a client to successfully defend an Inheritance Act claim heard at a 3-day trial in the High Court in Cardiff which was brought by the deceased’s adult son for financial provision for his maintenance.

I have also acted for an adult child who was left a small legacy under the terms of his estranged father’s Will. My client did not consider that the legacy was sufficient for his future maintenance needs as he suffered from several progressive physical disabilities. I successfully negotiated with my opponent a favourable out of court settlement for my client without incurring the significant costs associated with a court trial.

I have experience dealing on behalf of executors and beneficiaries who cannot agree the steps to be taken during the administration of the estate with their respective co-executors or beneficiaries.

I love the outdoors and in my spare time I enjoy hiking, running and the odd camping trip – weather permitting! Originally from Pembrokeshire, I am a fluent Welsh speaker.

Alice acted in an exemplary manner throughout and was a pleasure to work with in most difficult times.

Thank you to both you and Joshua for your time and patience, I couldn't have managed my opponent without you.

Alice dealt with our case in a very efficient, confident, positive manner. She was considerate and sensitive. She is a credit to your company.
