Caryl Thomas

I am a Senior HR leader with extensive UK and international experience across a wide range of sectors. After studying languages at Liverpool University and living and working in Barcelona, my passion for people and communication led me into HR when I returned to the UK. I began my HR career supporting Morgan Stanley with their European offices and was seconded to London.

I continued to broaden my expertise with BskyB and later BlackRock Asset Management in Edinburgh and London, thriving in fast‑paced, complex, matrix environments and developing strong operational and organisational leadership skills.

In 2013, I returned to Wales and in 2015 founded my own HR consultancy, building and managing a team that supported SMEs across South Wales and beyond. After successfully navigating my clients and business through the Covid pandemic, I sold the company and took a short career break before returning to international HR with Bio‑Techne in the life sciences sector, once again applying my languages.

People‑centred, pragmatic, and outcomes‑focused, I bring strong judgement, integrity, and operational discipline to every role.

I am a Fellow of the CIPD and I also serve as a Trustee at Insole Court in Llandaff. I believe strongly in serving my community and since moving back to Wales I have learnt Welsh and enjoy practicing at every opportunity. I live in Cardiff with my husband, son, and our King Charles Cavalier, Rebel, and enjoy travelling and weightlifting.
