Catrin Griffiths
I am a Partner with the Firm and Head of the Family Department.
I handle some of the most difficult and sensitive cases involving families in Wales and the South West whether child care, domestic abuse or disputed financial settlements. Many of my clients are farmers or professionals with valuable pension assets and I spend most of my time advising clients on the tricky financial aspects of separation.
I qualified as a Solicitor in 2002 and since then have dedicated my career to dealing with all aspects of the law as it relates to families – whether married, living together or forced apart by circumstance. My expertise was recognised in April 2013 when I was accredited as an Advanced Family Law Panel member with the Law Society which recognises my particular expertise in child law and violence in the home. We are a Legal Aid panel firm for family law cases and I am actively making sure that our services continue to be available to families who need them most.
I also trained and qualified as a Collaborative lawyer in 2015. I am the past chairperson of the Collaborative Law in Wales ‘pod’, a select group of specialist family lawyers dedicated to the use of the Collaborative system in appropriate cases. The Collaborative approach enables clients to reach settlement regarding all aspects of a separation without the need for Court intervention. It is a proven and highly successful approach, as well as being a more positive experience for the parties involved, than the more traditional route of Court proceedings. Please click here for more information on Collaborative law and how it can work for you.
I am also a member of Resolution, a family law organisation that encourages a non-confrontational approach in dealing with family law cases. My aim is to help every client reach an amicable solution to their problem wherever possible. When recourse to court is needed, I am a confident and experienced court advocate.
My clients are often going through the most stressful and emotional experience of their entire lives, with much at stake. My job is to reduce that stress, if I possibly can. My experience in similar cases means I can help to make the whole situation easier than it would otherwise be and I pride myself on being approachable and friendly. Most of my work comes from personal recommendations.
I am pleased to be described as the leading individual for Family (South and Mid Wales) in the Legal 500 2015/2016 edition and the Family department within Redkite Solicitors is ranked as a tier 1 firm.
I am Carmarthenshire born and bred and a Welsh Speaker.
There were many times when I was extremely stressed by the complicated legal system but Catrin Griffiths was there throughout and not only dealt with the legal side but also my stress, which I'm sure at times can’t have been easy. Thank you Catrin and your team, I would not have got through this without you.
