Clarissa Hands
Credit Controller
Honestly, never thought I’d work in a law firm. I didn’t study law, but then I also wasn’t 100% sure I wanted a career in accounts and Finance. But following recent roles I enjoyed learning how money is used in the running of a business. When the opportunity arose for me to work for a law firm I was intrigued as to what I could learn from my new colleagues in Finance and Law that can help me gain knowledge of certain aspects of both subjects.
As the Firms credit controller my responsibilities are to update our debt report regularly, chasing outstanding invoices and ensuring clients are up to date with payments and Solicitors are up to date with files.
When I contact client, I would often send emails and letters regarding any outstanding balances or questions regarding payments. I accept and make phone calls as this is a preferred way of communication for most clients and try to find the best result for the client and the firm when settling an invoice.
I have 5 years of hospitality and volunteering experience and 3 years in a semi- finance role. I completed my Level 2 AAT Accountancy and Bookkeeping Certificate in June 2025 and look to further my education and knowledge to pursue a career in finance.
I enjoy the different interactions I have with my colleagues, and when I attend new offices. I enjoy the opportunities to attend and assist in events for charity work and volunteer my time for a good cause, making new connections with new people.
Outside of work I like to go on weekends away, assist with any volunteer work, and I love going camping and to Motorbike rally’s in the Summer with my Friends and Family.
