Nia Thomas

Partner and Solicitor

Since qualifying as a Solicitor in 2010, I’ve had the privilege of building a practice focused on delivering clear, strategic advice and strong outcomes for my clients.

I specialise in complex family law matters, with particular expertise in high-net-worth financial disputes. These often involve intricate issues such as business interests, substantial pensions, and international assets. I take a tailored approach to every case, combining a detailed understanding of financial structures with practical, solutions focused thinking to protect and advance my clients’ interests. Where necessary, I act swiftly to secure injunctions that safeguard assets.

Alongside financial work, I regularly assist clients with sensitive children matters, including post-separation arrangements, as well as advising on asset protection, and specifically pre- and post-nuptial agreements.

While I’m a strong advocate for resolving disputes through constructive negotiation, I’m equally prepared to represent my clients robustly in court when litigation is the best or only option.

Clients often tell me they value not just my legal expertise, but the way I work with them. I aim to be approachable, supportive, and straightforward and am told that I am someone who is empathetic, listens carefully and explains complex issues in a way that feels manageable. I understand that family law matters can be emotionally challenging, so I focus on providing reassurance and clarity at every stage.

As a member of Resolution, I’m committed to promoting constructive, non-confrontational solutions wherever possible. I am always mindful of the human element of my work and hold as key objectives, the need to minimise conflict, preserve assets, and protecting ongoing positive co-parenting relationships.

I’m passionate about delivering first class legal advice with a personal touch, ensuring every client feels confident, informed, and supported throughout what is bound to be, one of the more difficult chapters of their lives.

I was recognised in the Legal 500 as a ‘recommended lawyer’ in the 2024/2025 rankings and a  ‘Next Generation Partner’ in the 2025/2026 rankings where I was described as  ‘The exceptional Nia Thomas… well prepared, empathetic and pragmatic’.

I’ve had the opportunity to act as lead solicitor in a complex financial remedy matter in the High Court, that went on to be reported (OG v AG [2020] EWFC 52 (29 July 2020)). This was both challenging and rewarding in equal measures.

I am fully fluent in Welsh and am happy to communicate in English or Welsh.

In my spare time, I enjoy hiking and travelling.
