Rachael Abbott
I am a dedicated solicitor, having qualified in 2005, with two decades of specialised experience in Private Client law. As a Partner and Head of Wills and Probate East at Redkite Solicitors, I am committed to providing exceptional client care. I take great fulfilment in assisting vulnerable clients and simplifying the legal process to alleviate any concerns my clients may have.
I am a fully qualified member of the Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and so use the designation TEP after my name. STEP is a global professional body, comprising lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, and other practitioners that help families plan for their futures.
I am also a Lifetime Lawyer with the Association of Lifetime Lawyers (formerly Solicitors for the Elderly), recognised as the gold standard for supporting vulnerable and older people with legal advice. Lifetime Lawyers are experts in delivering the best outcomes for clients of all ages who are facing important life decisions, including those with complex needs and who may need extra support.
Beyond my professional life, I am a keen gardener and a bookworm with a busy social life. I am also a proud mum to two lovely boys and a cat mum to Athena and Loki.
How I can help:
Wills and Estate Planning
My expertise in will drafting includes offering bespoke advice and crafting documents tailored to safeguard vulnerable beneficiaries, accommodate young children, and address the unique needs of blended families. I am adept at wealth preservation strategies, providing guidance for business owners, farming families, and long-term planning.
Lasting Powers of Attorney
I specialise in establishing Lasting Powers of Attorney for both individuals and business owners, ensuring that their wishes are respected and legally upheld in the event of mental incapacity. I can offer advice on the role of the attorney and those that would be best suited or not for you to entrust decisions regarding your finances and health.
Probate Administration
In administering estates, I handle cases with valid wills, missing executors or beneficiaries, and even estates without a will – instestacy. My role involves identifying and applying Inheritance Tax exemptions and allowances, drafting tax returns, and offering comprehensive advice and assistance to Executors or Personal Representatives. This includes identifying beneficiaries, maintaining transparent estate accounting records, and overseeing distribution and the conclusion of the administration period.
Current Role
As Head of the Wills and Probate Team for Redkite’s East Region, encompassing the picturesque Cotswolds and Gloucestershire, I manage our team across Cirencester, Gloucester, Stroud, Dursley, and Stonehouse. I am passionate about ensuring our clients receive the highest standard of service and legal expertise.
Through my work, I aim to make a positive impact on the lives of my clients, making complex legal processes as accessible and stress-free as possible.
