Lowri Williams – A Career Journey in Wills & Probate at Redkite Solicitors

We spoke with Lowri Williams, Wills and Probate Associate, to explore the career journey that led her into private client law and, ultimately, to Redkite Solicitors. From her early motivations and professional milestones to the values that shaped her decisions along the way, Lowri shares how finding the right environment has allowed her to grow with confidence, develop her expertise and truly flourish within the firm.

When I reflect on my career so far, it’s clear that every step has shaped the solicitor I am today. I began my legal journey as a Paralegal in Cardiff before qualifying as a Solicitor in Swansea, initially working in Commercial Property.

Early on, I made a move into a completely different area of law within the public sector, working in the family court. That experience gave me a deep understanding of working with people during some of the most challenging periods of their lives, while also strengthening my judgement, communication, and resilience.

An Opportunity to Grow as a Solicitor

Over time, however, limited progression opportunities led me to reassess my career path. I wanted a role that offered clarity, development, and the chance to grow. Through a contact, I was introduced to Redkite Solicitors, and it quickly became clear that this was a firm that genuinely invests in its people.

When I joined Redkite, I initially stepped into the Commercial Property team.  This proved invaluable. It allowed me to refresh my commercial experience while also learning the firm’s systems, processes, and culture from the inside. It also demonstrated something that has become a hallmark of my time here – flexibility, trust, and a willingness to support development in a practical way.

When the Partner in Wills and Probate returned to work from maternity leave, I moved to her team as planned as Solicitor. This feels like the perfect balance as I’m able to work closely with individuals and families while also drawing on my commercial background. Having experience across multiple areas of law has made me a far more rounded professional, both technically and in terms of soft skills.

Transparent Career Progression

One of the standout aspects of Redkite is its clear and transparent approach to career progression. I progressed to Associate Solicitor within two years of joining, supported by open conversations with senior colleagues, structured mentoring, and monthly meetings that helped me understand exactly what was required at the next level. Knowing that managers actively support promotion applications is incredibly motivating and reassuring.
