HR Network West Wales event: Post Termination Restrictions

Join our free to attend HR Network West Wales event on the topic of Post Termination Restrictions.

Protection of business interests is more important than ever, and we are increasingly seeing a need for support from clients on interpreting and enforcing post termination restriction clauses in contracts.

These clauses, also known as restrictive covenants; restraint of trade; and competition clauses (to name but a few!) aim to limit what employees, directors and shareholders can do after they leave your business. Examples include adding a provision to a contract to prevent someone from acting in competition with your business once their contract has been terminated, or ‘non-dealing’ clauses which prevent an employee from dealing with certain key contacts or clients once they have left your employ.

We will be joined by barristers Richard Shepherd and Darren Stewart from Albion Chambers, Bristol to deliver this event to you. Richard is the Head of Albion’s Employment and Professional Disciplinary Team and sits as a part-time Crown Court judge (Recorder) on the Western Circuit. Before joining Albion in 2019, Darren enjoyed a successful career as a Solicitor, working closely with various SMEs and small businesses in South Wales, and his experience and background is invaluable. Both specialise in employment, regulatory and civil law.

Topics covered will include:

  • What are post termination restrictions;
  • What should you be considering when implementing them;
  • Are they effective;
  • What options do you have if they are breached;
  • What are the practical and commercial implications of enforcing these clauses; and
  • Much more!

There will also be a Q&A session towards the end of the event whereby the Redkite Employment team, Dispute Resolution team and our guest speakers will be available to answer any questions that you may have.

Richard and Darren will give you some of their ‘Top Tips’ for when using post termination restrictions and things to consider when it comes to enforcing those restrictions, including information on springboard injunctions and the commercial considerations surrounding enforcement. This is something we work in conjunction with our Redkite Dispute Resolution team to assist clients with and we will be joined by members of the team at this event.

Further details about our guest speakers can be found on the Albion Chambers website as follows: https://www.albionchambers.co.uk/

When: 24 November 2020 between 9.30am and 11.00am.

Where: Zoom (where else!)

Please RSVP to hrnetwork@redkitelaw.co.uk to secure you place. Webinar links for the Zoom event will be sent out following registration.
