Compliance Assistant
Location: Stroud
Are you highly organised, naturally inquisitive, and looking for a role where no two days are the same? Do you enjoy digging into detail, keeping things on track, and making sure processes run like clockwork?
This isn’t your average admin job — it’s a fantastic entry point into the world of legal compliance, where you’ll support the inner workings of a fast-paced, multi-office law firm. At Redkite Solicitors, you’ll join a supportive team and play a vital role in helping us deliver outstanding service to our clients — all while building a career that plays to your strengths in organisation, communication, and attention to detail.
⚠️ This is not a legal assistant or paralegal route. While legal knowledge or interest is helpful, this is a compliance-focused support role that sits within the firm’s business services function — ideal for someone looking for long-term growth outside of a fee-earning track.
Redkite Solicitors prides itself on being able to offer a broad range of legal services that are able to meet the diverse needs of its clients. Our firm has been providing legal advice to individuals, families and businesses in our communities since 1898 and we are here for our clients every step of the way. We are a forward-looking, ever-expanding firm and are proud to be an employer of choice for our staff members.
What will you be doing?
You’ll join a small but high-performing Compliance team who ensure that our legal work meets regulatory, quality, and service standards across every department. You’ll be involved in a wide range of activities, including:
- File Review Support
- Helping to coordinate and track our internal file review process
- Following up with fee earners to ensure file reviews are completed on time
- Logging and updating review outcomes on our master records
- Matter Risk Assessments (MRAs)
- Monitoring the completion of MRAs and prompting staff where needed
- Supporting quality control processes and ensuring data is accurate and audit-ready
- Compliance Training Monitoring
- Tracking the completion of mandatory compliance training firmwide
- Liaising with HR, IT, and line managers to ensure reminders are sent and progress is recorded
- Client Complaint Handling Support
- Acknowledging complaints and assigning to the correct handler
- Coordinating with colleagues to compile and draft appropriate responses
- Helping identify trends or repeat issues that may require escalation
- Team Collaboration
- Assisting the wider compliance and operations teams with ad hoc tasks
- Attending cross-functional meetings and contributing to ongoing projects
-
- Occasionally visiting other offices to support firmwide initiatives
Who we’re looking for
We’re more focused on mindset and potential than ticking every box — but to thrive in this role, you’ll likely bring:
- A professional, proactive approach — someone who takes pride in doing things properly
- Previous admin experience (in any professional setting), ideally handling records, data, or compliance-related tasks
- Strong communication skills — you’ll be dealing with colleagues at all levels and need to be polite but persistent
- A high level of attention to detail and organisation — this role requires consistency and accuracy
- Good IT confidence — especially with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and ideally some database or system experience
- A willingness to learn — and not be afraid to ask questions or dig into unfamiliar information
- Based locally to Stroud or within reasonable commuting distance
Bonus points for:
- A law degree or similar legal academic background
- Exposure to working in a regulated environment (e.g. legal, healthcare, education, or financial services)
- An interest in process improvement, compliance frameworks, or risk management
What is in it for you?
We’re committed to creating a supportive, inclusive, and high-performing legal team. You’ll be joining colleagues who are not only legally excellent but also commercially astute and down-to-earth. We value trust, boldness, excellence and teamwork — and we want you to thrive as part of that.
- 25 days annual leave entitlement
- Holiday buy and sell scheme
- Contributions to gym membership
- Flexible working considerations
- Career development
- Redkite rewards scheme
